How this "Sewing Thing" all started:
My
name is Sue Fox. I
was so very lucky to have two Grandmothers that taught me to sew at a young
age and parents who encouraged me. I began to work for Forrest Adkins in 1986 at "Forest Sewing Machine Shop"
in his home near Naples, Illinois. After his death in 1989 I continued to
work for his wife, Lena. I managed the shop until her death in 1996.
At that time I purchased the store from her son, and chose to
keep the name "Forest Sewing Machine Shop". After 3 years at the rural
Meredosia location I moved into the "Sewing Basket" Quilt Shop owned by Marcia
Cox and located on the square in downtown Jacksonville, Illinois. After a
year at that location we needed more space so we moved next to Sablotny Paint &
Floor Covering on West Morton Avenue in Jacksonville. Now, nearly 3 years
later I felt I needed more space to hold classes and expand my business.
In October 2002 I purchased the building located at 806 Hardin in
Jacksonville (see picture on home
page) which is located at the corner of Hardin and Morton. The last week
of October 2002 we opened for business with a brand new name, phone number and
location.
Many have asked where I come up with the name "Times Square Sewing Complex". There are several reasons. Now that I am "on my own", I wanted my own name. The shape of the building is where "Square" originated and my favorite Bible passage (Ecclesiastes 3: "A time for everything") makes me think about time to sew. That is where the "Times" come in and fulfilling all types of sewing needs made me think of a sewing complex. So the name "Times Square Sewing Complex" was born!
On July 19, 2003 I become Mrs. Rodger L. Fox
